Press On

Surge People,

I speak the blessing and favor of God over your life!

I want to encourage you with a statement that we must adopt as a mission - “Press On!”

In Philippians 3:13-15, the Apostle Paul wrote these words…

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things.”

The key to fulfilling God’s will is found in these verses:
•Forget what is Behind
•Reach for what is Ahead
•Press On toward the Goal

2021 has been a year in which we have worked hard to accomplish projects and improvements in the church we were not able to accomplish in 2020. To those ends, we thank you for your support and patience as much of the work has been behind the scenes.

We’re now entering the last quarter of the year. This is a time for us to regain focus and to press on. Paul ended this section in Philippians 3 by stating - “Let those of us who are mature have this same mindset.”

The last 2-years have brought such disruptions and distractions to life and society. It is easy to lose focus when we’re caught in the cross currents of so much turbulence. However, it is in times like these that mark those who are mature. Mature believers leave the past behind, buckle down and continue to reach forward and press on.

God has given us BIG Vision for the future of Surge Church, and it’s our ability to maintain focus and press on in the present that will ensure our success. As we come down to the home stretch of 2021, I ask for your help in finishing strong through your…

•Attendance & Participation
•Service & Support
•Inviting People to Join Us

These are three habits of spiritually mature believers that are directly connected to our ability to Press On.
We’re all busy, but unfortunately we live in a world that tells us we have to be busy to be successful. The downside of this deception is that “busy” has become an idol. While under its yoke, it is easy to forget our first love and the first things to which God has called us. Blessing and success comes when we keep the things of God as “first things” in our lives.

Acts 2:42 records that in the beginning of the Church the first Christians “devoted themselves to the apostles’  teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” These things were the building blocks faithful Christians then used to build the Church. These things are still the foundation stones that Christians must remain faithful to today.

Thank you for your love, prayers and faithfulness that have helped to bring us this far as a Church Body. Now is the time for us to forget what is behind, move forward into what is ahead and continue to Press On toward the upward call of God in Christ Jesus!

Together, we Surge Forward!

With Love,
Pastor Brad Sullivan
